Reaching this milestone requires a lot of preparation, hard work, and dedication. It’s fraught with many risks and uncertainties, but if you’re up for the challenge, it’s a gratifying experience.
Surviving Your First Year in Business
The first year of business is often the most difficult. You’re learning how to run a business, developing systems and procedures, and building a customer base simultaneously.
However, once you’ve passed that one-year mark, you can sigh with relief. You’ve made it through the most challenging part! Just a reminder from one business owner to another, always keep both eyes on the prize and don’t give up even when it feels like the entire world is against you.
As I have said time and again – experiences make you stronger. Make sure to use both successes and failures as positive tools for learning.

Sales are the lifeblood of most businesses. Without hitting your targets, it’s difficult to stay afloat and grow. Hitting your sales means that the products or services you’re offering are in demand and that people are willing to pay for what you’re offering.
Of course, there will always be ups and downs when it comes to sales. The key is to analyse your data, understand your customer’s needs, and make the necessary adjustments to ensure that you’re always moving in the right direction.
Profitability is a key indicator of a sustainable business model. Once you can cover your costs and generate a profit, you’ll know you have a viable business. At this point, companies can support themselves and grow without additional investment.
Continue to reinvest a portion of your profits into the business to help it grow. You can also use some of your earnings to reward yourself and your team for all the hard work you’ve put in.
